The First Annual Fiber Fair

The first annual Fiber Fair was held in Marshfield in 1995 with the assistance of the Webster County University Outreach & Extension Small Farm Family Program. Gladys Gaeke and Helen Grace Muzzy headed up the project.

The fair was co-sponsored by Highland Fiber Artists and Webster County University Outreach & Extension Small Farm Family Program from 1997 to 2002.  Since 2002 the Highland Fiber Artists Guild has run the Fair on their own.  It is held the 3rd Saturday in May each year in the Marshfield, Missouri City Park.

The Guild members demonstrate many Fiber Arts, present mini-workshops and have a booth displaying items made by Guild members along with information about the Guild. The last several years they have also had a bake sale table for the convenience of Fair participants.

There are always vendors with fiber related wares and and live animals.  The latest additions to the Fair have been a Fashion show; Fleece and Handspun Yarn Competitions; Knit and Crochet Speed Contests; and Young Crafters Contest.
