| In 1995 the Webster County
University Outreach & Extension Small Farm Family Program
sponsored the first Fiber Fair held in Marshfield, Missouri.
Gladys Gaeke, Becky Garton, Doug and Helen Grace Muzzy
headed up the project. The Fair was a success and the next
year a list was started at the fair to sign up those
interested in beginning a Guild of Fiber Artists.
The first Guild meeting was held June 26th, 1996. The Guild
has continued to grow both in numbers and in the types of
fiber arts in which members participate.

Members always enjoy getting together for a day of fiber dying.
The Guild enjoys talking to the public and demonstrating their skills at the Missouri Ozark Empire Fair every August in Springfield, Mo.
Many guild members demonstrate their skills and sell at local Craft fairs during the year.
Mary Ley has taught several Tatting workshops for the Guild. Small specialty workshops are held when there are enough members interested in a technique.
Mary Ley and other members have also taught Fiber Classes at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Mo.
A separate meeting for weavers and spinners is held every month for in-depth study. Those interested in knitting and crochet also have a separate study group.
A Christmas party and gift exchange is held every year. We also have a potluck picnic in the summer
